International Programs
Employers of accounting and information systems professionals are convinced that it is an asset for students to have had international experience through work or study abroad. The Department of Accounting and Information Systems, together with the Pamplin College, offers study-abroad programs that provide you with opportunities to become familiar with businesses, government agencies, universities, and cultural attractions of various countries throughout the world.
For example, we offer a program on Doing Business in Europe each summer. The group visits such cities as Paris, Freiburg, Amsterdam, Brussels, Prague, Munich, and Strasbourg, as well as the Black Forest and the Swiss Alps. The in-residence academic program is conducted in Freiberg, Germany, and includes course work in electronic commerce systems and networks and telecommunications systems. The group takes part in excursions to technology firms and government agencies in various cities.
Classes are generally held Monday through Thursday for eight weeks, leaving Friday and Saturday for individual and/or group travel throughout Europe.
Students are housed in dormitory suites on campus at the University of Freiberg, and typically have international students as suite mates. This allows for a more fully rounded experience in European living and culture. Past participants in the program have highly rated not only the academic experience, but also the living arrangements and cultural diversions.
Information is also available about other Study Abroad Programs offered by the Pamplin College of Business.
