Pauline L. Corn Retires

Pauline (Polly) L. Corn served on the faculty at Virginia Tech from 1966 until her retirement in 1985. For most of this time Polly served as coordinator for the Principles of Accounting course sequence. In this role she was responsible for the preparation of c ourse syllabi, exams, and lesson plans for over 1,000 students each quarter. Typically she was responsible for 10 to 15 graduate teaching assistants. Many of our early Ph.D. graduates were greatly influenced by Polly's teaching philosophy and methods of conducting classes.

Polly's son John graduated in 1978 with a degree in accounting. Her husband Ralph was a banker in Radford where the family resided. After her retirement Polly served several terms as a member of Radford's City Council. She also remains active in her church where she serves as treasurer. On the occasion of her retirement, family, friends, faculty, and former students endowed the Pauline L. Corn Endowed Scholarship in Accounting for the purpose of recognizing outstanding graduate students who teach principles of accounting.
